Meet Anaheim
Anaheim is one of Orange County’s most recognized and vibrant cities, known for its iconic entertainment destinations and fast-growing residential communities. Covering over 50 square miles, Anaheim offers a blend of suburban living, commercial districts, and world-renowned attractions.
Home to more than 345,000 residents, the city features a diverse population and a median age in the mid-30s. Families, professionals, and long-term Southern California locals are drawn to Anaheim for its strong job market, walkable neighborhoods, and endless entertainment options — from the Anaheim Packing House to Angel Stadium to Disneyland Resort.
The history of the city
Founded in 1857 by German settlers as a major wine-producing town, Anaheim’s early economy revolved around vineyards, fruit agriculture, and a small but growing community. After the wine blight of the late 19th century, Anaheim shifted toward citrus farming, becoming one of Southern California’s top agricultural hubs.
The city transformed dramatically in 1955 with the opening of Disneyland, which sparked rapid growth in tourism, housing, business development, and infrastructure. Today, Anaheim is a thriving metropolitan center that honors its agricultural roots while standing as one of Orange County’s most dynamic and visited cities.
