Plans move fast. Sometimes a lease comes through earlier than expected, a mover cancels the morning of, or you simply decide today is the day. We dispatch a full truck and crew same day across eight metro markets with the same standard as any planned move.

Full Service, Fast Dispatch

Short notice, not short service

Same-day means we move fast on booking and dispatch. It does not mean we skip the blankets, send two people for a four-person job, or cut any corner the planned move would not cut.

You called today. We move you today.

Same-day moves happen for all kinds of reasons. The apartment you put an application on three weeks ago came through this morning. The mover you booked cancelled by text at 7am. The seller accepted and the possession date is today. Corporate HR called with a start date that was not in the original offer. In every case, the move needs to happen now, and the company handling it needs to mobilise in hours, not days.

Royal Moving & Storage takes same-day bookings across eight markets with a full truck, a sized crew, and all the equipment a planned move gets. We pre-clear what needs pre-clearing before the truck leaves, confirm a transparent price upfront, and operate under USDOT #3617767 on every job regardless of the booking window.

The Four Things That Kill a Same-Day Move

Same-day moves fail in predictable ways. A company that rushes the dispatch without pre-clearing these four things creates problems that take longer to fix than a proper move would have taken.

Problem 1

Packing not done when crew arrives

A crew sent without knowing the packing state arrives to find boxes half-full and drawers untouched. The job doubles in length and the customer pays for the extra hours.

What we do
We ask the packing state upfront and either bring packing supplies and time for it, or tell you clearly what needs to be boxed before we arrive.
Problem 2

Wrong truck size means a second trip

Rushed booking means a rushed size estimate. A truck too small turns one trip into two, with a second trip charge nobody agreed to and a move that runs into the evening.

What we do
We take an inventory on the call, match the truck to the job, and flag if the home description sounds like it needs a larger vehicle before we dispatch.
Problem 3

Elevator not booked at the new building

The crew arrives at the destination and the building says the service elevator is booked by another move all afternoon. The job stalls while everyone waits for a slot that may not exist today.

What we do
We ask about both buildings on the booking call and contact building management before the truck leaves to confirm elevator access and loading dock availability.
Problem 4

COI missing and building turns the crew away

Many managed buildings require a certificate of insurance before they allow movers in. A company that does not check this sends a crew who gets turned away at the door with a full truck and nowhere to unload.

What we do
We ask for the building name and management contact during booking and issue the COI the same day so it is cleared before the crew arrives.
Problem 5

Undersize crew sent to save dispatch time

Two movers for a fully furnished three-bedroom is not a same-day move, it is a two-day move. Sending whoever is available fastest is not the same as sending the right number of people for the job.

What we do
We staff to the job, not to the dispatch speed. If we cannot send the right crew size same-day for a large home, we tell you and offer a realistic window.

We pre-clear all five before the truck moves

Every same-day booking goes through the same checklist. A faster booking does not mean a shorter checklist.

Call this morning. In your new place by tonight.

A compressed booking window, a transparent price, and a crew that leaves the depot with every problem already pre-cleared.

01

Call and describe the job

Home size, floors, both addresses, packing state, and any buildings with elevator or dock rules. We size the job and confirm a transparent price on the spot.

02

We pre-clear access

Elevator bookings, loading dock access, and COI requirements confirmed with both buildings before the crew departs. No surprises at either door.

03

Crew dispatched, fully equipped

Right-sized truck, right number of movers, blankets, dollies, and shrink wrap. The same setup as any planned move, dispatched faster.

04

Move complete, settled in

Furniture placed, beds assembled, and the job finished the same day the call came in.

A fast booking should not mean a careless one.

Some companies use same-day urgency as a reason to cut the steps that protect you. We use it as a reason to move faster through all of them.

A Typical Same-Day Mover

Fast dispatch, everything else skipped

No inventory check, wrong truck size, second trip billed
Crew arrives to find nothing packed, charges double
Building turns crew away for missing COI
Whoever was free dispatched, not the right number of people
Hidden charges disclosed after the move, not before
Royal Moving & Storage

All five pre-cleared before dispatch

Inventory taken on the call, right truck confirmed
Packing state confirmed, plan adjusted accordingly
COI issued and building access confirmed before departure
Crew sized to the job, not to whoever was available
Transparent price confirmed before anyone moves

What comes with a same-day booking.

Transparent price upfront
Confirmed on the booking call. No changes on the day.
Fast dispatch
Right-sized truck and crew sent within hours of booking.
COI issued same day
Building insurance requirements cleared before the crew arrives.
Elevator booked
Building access confirmed at both addresses before departure.
Furniture protection
Blankets and shrink wrap on every piece, regardless of booking time.
Assembly at destination
Beds and frames put together so the place is liveable that evening.

Same-Day Moving FAQs

1. How early in the day do I need to call to get a same-day move?

Arrow Down

It depends on the market and what is available that day. As a general guide, calling before noon gives us the best chance to size the job, pre-clear building access, and dispatch a full crew the same day. Calls in the afternoon can still be same-day for smaller moves. We will tell you honestly what is available when you call rather than make a promise we cannot keep.

2. Is a same-day move more expensive than a planned one?
