1. Can a family member manage the move on behalf of a parent?
Yes, and we are used to it. Adult children often handle the planning and coordination remotely while the senior is on site. Your coordinator can deal directly with whichever family member is managing things, and keep both the client and the family in the loop, including via phone or email if someone is in another state.
2. Do you coordinate directly with the assisted living or retirement facility?
Yes. Most retirement communities and assisted living facilities have specific move-in windows, elevator reservations, and access requirements. We deal with the building directly to confirm those details so the family does not have to be the go-between, and we make sure we arrive within the window they have allocated.
3. What if not everything fits in the new place?
Downsizing almost always means something has to wait or go to family. We can hold overflow items in storage until family members can pick things up, or until a second delivery is organised. We can also help bring what family wants to another address at the same time.
4. Can you do long-distance moves for seniors moving closer to family?
Yes. Cross-state moves for seniors joining family in another city are common for us. We handle the full pack at the origin, the long haul, and delivery and unpacking at the destination, so the senior arrives to a place that is already set up and the family at the other end can be with them on arrival day rather than moving furniture.
5. How do you handle items with sentimental value that need special care?
Just point them out. During the walkthrough and on pack day, you or a family member can flag anything that is particularly fragile, meaningful, or needs to go in a specific place. We treat those items accordingly, and they are typically the first things set up at the new address so they are in place when the client arrives.
