George K. In 1917, J.H. Moshier, a wealthy oilman from Oklahoma, bought much of the land and built a large house, as well as several dairy barns and silos, and named his property the Sunshine Ranch. Most of the buildings remain, and several others became residences.
Between 1917 and 1924, more than 2,000 acres of Sunshine Ranch became a citrus orchard, but the ranch was sold in 1925 by Suburban Estates, Inc., which subdivided the ranch into 80 large and small lots in various sizes up to seven acres. In 1927, the residents began building the Granada business district, and in 1928, the Granada Chamber of Commerce was organized.
